Are You A Victim? How To Tell…
We all hear about ways to protect yourself against identity theft. But when do you that you’re a victim of it. You may be a victim and not even know it. Here are some things you want to watch for to detect identity theft:
You get arrested on charges that you don’t know about. Changes are, someone used your identification information and created a false ID then committed the crime. It may not just be a mistake on the police you might be a victim too.
You get calls from debt collection agencies for payments that you have never seen.
Your credit report shows credit checks from companies you never did business with. Or credit cards and loans listed on the report that you know nothing about.
Some of your expected mail is missing. Specifically utility bills, bank statements and credit card statements. Anything with your personal information on it, before you start yelling at the companies that sent the mall you may want to check into it a little.
You get statements in the mail addressed to you but you don’t have an account with the bank or company the statement is from.
When you do receive your statements in the mail there are additional charges on it. Ones you didn’t make.
Always check your credit report and make sure every that is there, is suppose to be there. Keep track of the dates you usually receive each of your bills. Be sure that you are receiving them. Don’t just through stuff out in the trash. Shred anything with personal information on it. Keep spyware blockers on and updates on your computers. This will ensure that you’re not being watched for your banking information. And just be smart about your information.
